Apple avoids paying billions in US taxes every year by routing money through international subsidiaries and into offshore tax havens throughout the Caribbean.

Nope.
This is the same issue which destroyed american manufacturing, too. The US creates a strong code of laws protecting workers rights, setting minimum wages, legislating work hours, minimum ages, etc... and corporations simply move the jobs to cheaper countries which don't offer those protections. The solution is, again, to either make domestic labor cheaper by removing those labor laws, or by imposing your standards upon every foreign country.
A bandaid fix is tariffs and import taxes... but all that does is antagonize the targeted nation into imposing its own tariffs on your goods, leading to a downward spiral of economic isolationism and further harming the very economy you were hoping to protect.

Very good explanation of things! I wish more people took an interest in economics, then we could get a lot more public support for sound policies.
