Triquetra Health's 20% Black Seed Extract vs ND's Extract

Original post in this thread

Hi guys. I have used ND's nigella sativa extract extensively in the past but have recently switched over to Triquetra Health's 20% extract due to its apparent higher potency and cheaper price. Is there any downside to switching over to Triquetra? My concern is that it would not live up to the standards of ND when it comes to the cleanliness of the extraction process and purity of the final product. The price just seems too good to be true. Does anyone have any insight as to if Triquetra's process is as legitimate and as pure as ND's? Thanks

Thanks for the input. I managed to email customer support and got the following response. Can you offer your input? Thank you

Hi Nathan,

We totally understand where you are coming from, as price can often be used as an indicator of quality. But we just believe in making life enhancing products affordable and accessible.

But to be clear – we are using the exact same extract as Nootropic Depot. We actually work with the exact same farm and extraction company in the world, which is Sabinsa. Us an Nootrpic Depot are the only 2 companies in the world with the extract – we just price it so much more affordably.

Here is an Explanation of Our Extraction Method:

We use a multi-stage extract process that further isolates the key components of the seed that contain the highest concentrations of TQ. Black seed typically has 1% or less concentration of TQ – so it takes a great deal of refinement to isolate the TQ to a 20% concentration. It is generally between a 35:1 to 50:1 extract ratio. And this ends up delivering a gray powder extract.

And to note, we use a CO2 extraction process which is the cleanest form of extraction – so no aggressive chemical solvents.

We have also attached the certificate of analysis which shows the heavy metal levels. As you can see they are extremely low – so very pure, non-contaminated seeds are used.

Please do not hesitate to contact us again if y…

So no lab testing data? Anyone can say words about how they make things. It's how brands obfuscate and trick consumers. If they had just said no, we won't show you the lab data, you would be angry. However, see how it seems legit with the way they responded? "Yeah, we totally do the same thing Nootropics Depot does! We actually use the same supplier! See, we are just the same, but cheaper!" I am going to be honest with you. Nobody does what we do. Nobody has the lab we have. Ask them again to see the LAB TESTING DATA on the black seed extract, not a marketing response.

We also don't use Sabinsa for black seed extract. Not sure why they think we do. They probably just said that to make it seem like they are the same. We have our own partners that make the extract for us, and then we test it at our lab here in Arizona. It's grown in Egypt. Also, CO2 extraction is just a type of extraction. Acting like other extracts are "aggressive chemical solvents" is just more marketing bullshit. Everything is a chemical, even CO2... Different solvents are better for different things. CO2 also pulls out many more volatile compounds from plants, so I don't know why anyone would say it is "the cleanest form of extraction." That's good for black seed oil, as we want the volatiles. However, for some plants you don't want the volatiles, so using supercritical CO2 is not appropriate. Most brands have no scientific team of any kind, so you get a lot of hollow words.

That's about what I expected. These are just internal COAs. To start, analyzing nitrogen content is not an appropriate methodology for amino acid assay. This is the same shit China got away with on infant formula and spi

Absolutely none? Probably zero from bigger brands. 50% off? Truthfully, I have not gone out and tested basic vitamins from brands. We have stuck to mostly botanicals and other small molecule organics. My assumption is th
