Unfortunately, Maca doesn’t seem to tickle my brain at all.
What’s a maximum recommended dose if I want to give it a proper test just to see if it even can have an effect on me?

Don't think about it that way. I would take a normal dose for a week or two, then stop. Then assess how it was making you feel. Trying to assess everything against strong acute doses is not really the best way to do it.
