Are 2% tongkat and 10% the same, besides the dose?

Just to make sure I'm understanding: when you say STAG, do you mean for example that a 5% withanolides capsule of ash would not just be 5% of any old withanolides, but that there could be 10%, but you are standardizing for 5% of the desired withanolides?
Or is it that the overall profile, including polyphenols as you mentioned in Tongkat, and excluding too much of something less desireable (like you balanced the Re in Panamax by blending the leaf and root extract)?
Thanks to anyone who can clarify.

Correct. If your STAG is the 8 withanolides from the USP monograph, and you set your product to be 5% based on that STAG, you could have more than 5% in there with the other withanolides that are not in your STAG. Generally you won't. Brands are not in the habit of claiming less than they can. However, it is possible. Ginger is another one. Some companies look at 4 different gingerols. We look at 6. If you use the STAG from them, our extract might fail because you are not looking at two of the other gingerols that we are. It gets more complex the more actives you have in the extracts.
In tongkat, the more you concentrate the eurycomanon, the less you get of some other compounds. I can't tell you exactly which and at what amounts yet, but that is what we are solving in the lab. Those other compounds do things that you might want/not want. This is why some people find the 2% calming and the 10% stimulating. It is also likely why more people get nauseous on the 2% than the 10%. These other compounds that go down in the 10% compared to the 2% have other effects. And yes, you can combine them. Many of our customers take both the 2% and 10% together for better effects. It depends on the person, but I know a lot of people doing just that.
