Nigella Sativa (Black Seed) Extract Degradation?

Original post in this thread

I've heard nothing but good things about Black Seed so when I seen that Nootropics Depot started carrying the powder extract I just had to purchase a tub. I ended up getting the high extract of 10% TQ content and man, this stuff is pricey. I got the 10% extract because I can make it last, taking only 150mg twice a day, with 4 days on and then 3 days off, I can make this $40 tub last almost 3 months.

I wanted to try Nigella because of its ability to enhance Kratom dosing. I also wanted to start taking it for general health and its ability to bring on feelings of well being, from which I read numerous reports on it doing so.

My question is that I've read a lot of studies online indicating that black seed (Nigella Sativa) degrades quite rapidly when exposed to air and light. Does this apply to the powder? As far as I know Nootropics Depot is one of the only few to sell the powder extract (I think ND is the only vendor)

I'm just curious if this degradation applies to the powder or the actually black seed oil it self. This stuff is expensive and I'm just worried that it is going to loose potency over time when I keep opening the jar. Can anyone elaborate on this?

Any feedback wo…

It's very stable as a powder. It's the oil that degrades quickly because of oxidation. Generally that's the case across the board. Oils are more susceptible to oxidation. This is why fish oils degrade quickly, too. You can actually process the EPA and DHA into a powder form, and then they are much more stable than in the fish oil itself.

Glad you are liking the effects! It's a really cool extract!
