NAC is an antioxidant with a sulfur molecule in it. It leads to an increase in H2S, which increases sulfane sulfur production. That's actually its mechanism for attacking reactive oxygen species. Sulfane sulfur species are very potent ROS scavengers. What may have happened with your NAC being exposed to heat, moisture, and oxygen is that it oxidized before you took it into hydrogen sulfide. Hydrogen sulfide is one of the body odor compounds, and your body does not accumulate it. So it excretes it quickly. This is likely why you smelled so bad.
