If you have issues with Tongkat Ali...

It consistently drops my blood sugar even if I take it after meals. If I take it before breakfast I'll be very irritated and edgy. I have to consume a ton of carbs to counter act this. If I take it after a meal with plenty of carbs it STILL tanks my glucose levels. So I've found what works for me. 30 min after breakfast, and then a large glass of OJ about 30 min after taking it. Puts me in a good mood and I get all the benefits everyone else has been seeing. So if you're getting that irritated feeling down a bunch of carbs/sugar and see if it helps. Also, I think these herbs are diuretics so up your water intake too.
I'd love to see the glucose levels of fasters pre and post taking it in the morning. If they maintain solid numbers I may give it a shot but I suspect the good feeling might be from stress hormones?

I only eat one meal a day and it tends to be low in carbs and I haven’t noticed this effect yet, weird. Carbs themselves have always made me irritable however.

It depends on the person. I fast all day and do not have this side effect. I think it depends on how used to blood sugar changes people's bodies are. My body has completely transformed after almost 2 years of IF. I used to be more sensitive to blood sugar changes, and would get woozy if I tried to workout without some sugar in my system. Now I can workout completely fasted, and my body just handles it. It took a while to get to this point, though. I would say at least 6-8 months of IF before my body got the hint that it needed to get used to it. So perhaps some people are just better able to regulate their blood sugar, while others are more sensitive to drops.
