Mulungu Bark and Kava Extracts

Long time lurker first time post on ND sub reddit. First of all loads of love for ND, their products are wonderful and my latest shipment of Ashwaganda, taurine, Rhodiola Rosea and l-Theanine have been wonderful.
Both Mulungu and Kava are natural legal remedies that have been outstanding (for me and and many others) for very pronounced anti anxiety effects. Mulungu is less well know than Kava but both have slightly different, but wonderful effects.
Mulungu is fully legal and is simply powdered bark of the Mulungu tree. For me it is as strong or strong than a Xanax. It is also non-addictive or habit forming. It gives me a wonderful sleep (but doesn’t put me to sleep) and I wake up without feeling groggy at all, which I love!
I wondered whether there is a reason standardized extracts of these two haven’t been developed? Maybe there is something more at play such as a lack of adequate supply or too many batch variations. Interested to hear thoughts!

Thank you for such a detailed response! I really appreciate how attentive you are to the forum.
Yes the seeds should never be ingested. It is only the bark. I came across it on the Mulungu sub reddit. It’s been a traditional medicine in Brazil for hundreds of years and the bark is sold at pharmacy’s all over the country.
I’d be excited to hear anything else you find out. It’s definitely worth a try. Preparation is a bit of a pain. Boil it with a few drops of lime or lemon (needs to be acidic) then simmer for 30 mins before drinking. Doesn’t taste bad at all

I did some more research, and it does look like Mulungu has some promise. Normally hitting the nicotinic ACh system is anti-nootropic. This is why I shy people away from taking diphenhydramine before bed. However, the compounds in Mulungu are not broad targeted. The key does seem to be specifically targeting the α4β2 subtype. Perhaps that is why you don't get groggy with it like you would Benadryl. Pretty interesting!
So now we just need to shore up a supply chain in Brazil. That might not be as difficult as it sounds at first. We might have a resource that can help set that up. The main hurdle will be testing, as there are no erythravine reference standards that I can find. So this will be one we have to do from scratch with our UPLC-MS and 2D NMR verification. Expensive and time-consuming, but not impossible. Erythravine should give a good signal on the UV detector, since it has a chromophore. So that's good.
