Hmm, that's a first! Definitely have not had that reaction reported yet. The symptoms you are reporting definitely sound like an allergic response.
There is this study that showed histamine release from magnolol: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/11731910
However, there is this one that showed the opposite, and inhibits a histamine response: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/11440086
So it is probably dependent on the person. I will say that I have a histamine disorder, and I do not have any side effects from magnolia bark. So if it is the culprit here, it's likely not a common reaction.
