How legit is ND's purity testing?
What they were answering

Appreciate the big piece!
I've had great customer service experiences with you guys but my only point of apprehension is not being able to ensure that all the purity testing is actually going on, especially as I'm not a chemist.
For instance, I'm currently taking your melatonin 800mcg caps, but find that they leave me feeling groggier in the morning and are less effective than vitafusion melatonin (at the same dose, which is even noted by Labdoor to be of low purity).
Why would that be the case? How can I be sure there's no heavy metal content? I'm also a bit concerned that the powder seems to smell extremely similar to and have the same effects as diphenhydramine.

Do you mean 300mcg? We do not sell 800mcg. Also, the Vitafusion test that I see on LabDoor is testing their 3 MILLIGRAM melatonin. That is 3,000 mcg. That's 10 times the dosage of our capsules. Much much higher than ours. Also, their product passionflower, lemon balm, and chamomile. Granted, the dosages are laughably low, but they are present in there. So you reacting different to our product compared to theirs is not surprising.
We use the USP standard as our analytical reference standard, and our melatonin is a 99.85% match to the USP standard. It is definitely not diphenhydramine, nor do we even stock that compound to be able to mix it up. We test our raw material before we use it to produce the capsules, then we also test the capsules once they are made, to ensure nothing got mixed up. In addition to that, we test a random bottle from each lot after they are produced. So there is zero way any other compound could be packaged and labeled melatonin.
If you would like, I can also send our melatonin off to a 3rd party lab for extra verification.
