I feel like /u/MisterYouAreSoDumb has said otherwise. The problem isn't with absorption, but that first past metabolism takes a good portion of aniracetam out of your system right off the bat. Examine.com states that it must be taken with fatty acids, but says shortly after that it can be taken in a fasted state...

Aniracetam is rapidly and completely absorbed from a fasting state. You do NOT need to take fat with it, and fat does NOT increase bioavailability. It has 100% bioavailability from a fasting state. It's just rapidly and completely metabolized by the liver. Absorption is not an issue with Aniracetam. It's first pass metabolism that is the issue. Even so, the main metabolite (N-anisoyl-GABA) is just as active as Aniracetam itself. So the rapid metabolism is not really a problem, so much as it is just a feature of Aniracetam's pharmacokinetics.
