Hey guys, sorry this took longer than I wanted. I had a lot on my plate today so I was going to put it off til tomorrow, but then curiosity got the best of me and I had to try it.
TLDR: Semax from this company appears to be legit, though there is a chance that it might not be as pure as they claim.
I ordered this Semax about three weeks ago and just got it in the mail yesterday. I didn't realize it was coming all the way from Russia, but when I found out it raised some concerns like:
* Is it reliable
* Will it degrade during transit.
I'm a Chemistry PhD candidate doing work in cancer drug design and delivery research and my part of the lab works with peptides, so I thought that I could use a Mass Spectrometer to see what was really in the bottle.
Skip this part if you aren't interested in the methodology/instrumentation. Sample was prepped by removing roughly 9 µL from the commercial vial, putting 4 µL into centrifuge tube A and 5 µL into centrifuge tube B. A quick spin of A and B was performed to ensure the entirety of the sample was loc…

Methylparaben has a mass of 152 Da and entirely too small to be detectable on MALDI, so it can't be that. My current guess is incorrectly made peptides. If they use a peptide synthesizer, then it could be a result of not giving enough time to cleave off whatever protecting group they're using

Very interesting! I never thought to test the Russian drops. It's awesome you are doing this. Would you be interested in working with us on our testing program, to do some more purity testing on other substances? That is of course if you have time.
