I am incredibly scared of future drug use by our generation and younger generations.

Maybe it's just because I'm surrounded by it (college), but doesn't it seem like we're all headed in a downward spiral, chasing different highs? Songs like 'I Hate Being Sober' perpetuate this idea that being sober is uncool and you always have to be 'fucked up', whether it's high on weed, drunk on alcohol, or something else.

Combine that with our horrid drug miseducation, and you get people routinely doing molly every week, not realizing how bad it is for you. My girlfriend texts me over the weekend saying she thinks her friend has been roofied because she's unresponsive; I ask her what drugs she took, and it turns out her friend took a pill (thought it was mdma), 500mg of MORE mdma, AND was drinking. Turns out her friend was ok, but seriously?

Were past generations like this? Myth has it that the 80s was all about cocaine, and the 60s was all about acid. Those generations survived, right? It just seems to me that this younger generation that will soon take our place is preaching the 'live fast die young' mentality more-so than we did, and because of my knowledge of how these drugs affect you, I'm scared and worried.

What to do?

They're both delusional and distance them from their peer group. Maybe you didn't realize the context of the two but they always come up in a thread about adolescent drug use and it's always "I'm [age] but I'm not like other kids my age I research drugs before I do them and I get all A's(except math, I get a B in that but mom says it's alright). I'm super special everyone tell me what a bright future I have so I can feel better than the popular kids)".

In my opinion, if they need the recognition to feel special, let them have it. I know it gets annoying, especially for those that associate with that age group. However, some people just think on a different level than you and I do. Most of the time they really don't mean anything but good. Who are we to try and take that away from them?
