Will baking soda really make you beat a drug test for amphetamines/methamphetamine?

Stimulants aren't really my DOC, but I heard something interesting from a tweaker friend this weekend. She said that you can beat a urine drug test for meth or amphetamines by drinking a glass of water with 2 tablespoons of baking soda in it. You do that, piss once, and then piss for your test. Apparently your pee will test negative for a few hours after you ingest the baking soda. This apparently only works for meth and amphetamines, though. Has anyone else heard of this? Googling it, I got some confirmation from random websites.

Urinary pH is a factor in how fast you excrete amphetamines. I would actually suggest the opposite. Decrease your urinary pH so that you can pee out most of the amphetamine before your test. Then raise the pH back to normal before the test. Increase it too much and you will get a flag on the test. It's better to get the amp out of your system rather than try and fool the test.
