TIL that in 1916 an amendment was proposed to the Constitution that all acts of war would be put to a national vote. People voting yes would have to register as volunteers for service in the United States Army.

Well, I advocate anarchy in point of fact. This would be a non-issue. Everything would be governed by multilateral contracts, contracts, and social pressure. Forcing people to do anything against their will would be nonexistent
As we live in the here and now, and the State enslaves people when it decides to go to war sometimes...I am inclined to let the slaves have as much say as possible in the matter.
claiming old people money = young people's lives is insane.

I am not claiming that. I am simply claiming that you cannot have taxation without representation. Having a percentage of the population pay for something they are not allowed to vote on (directly or by representation) is against the constitution.
You can debate how shitty our current system is all you want, and I would agree with most of it. But I will never agree to allow the government to take money or labor from someone without their direct or indirect say in the matter.
