Suspension of disbelief only goes so far. To me, the discrepancy of terrain in Planet of the Apes is as blatant as if South Pacific was filmed in Ontario, Canada.
Don't even get me started on its setting in the future. It positively can't decide how far it is in the future within an order of magnitude.
