We switched out all the lights at our facility with low power use LEDs, and we actually have the lights off most of the time. We have skylights in the warehouse. We have migrated most methods over to our UPLC machines, which use 10X less solvents than HPLC. They are also quicker run times, which saves on electricity. We pay for a company to come out and take our used solvents and recycle them. They distill and purify them so they can be used again, rather than just tossing them. We have sized down capsules and packaging as much as possible, so we are using less plastic and packaging. We don't randomly print shit out and put it in every order, or put in scoops in everything, which drastically cuts down on waste over time. We have shifted a lot of our raw material shipping to sea, rather than air, which lowers the carbon footprint. Waste Management at our facility automatically sorts our trash and recycles the items they can. We also have moved to reusable HDPE drums for raw material shipping and storage, rather than the cardboard drums most places use, which then just get thrown away after one use. We have moved to aluminum and composite pallets in our warehouse where we can, rather than wood. This both prevents dust and particulates and prevents wood waste, as normal wood pallets always break down. Most of our team that can work from home does now, which lowers carbon emissions from commuting in cars every day. This is significant for some employees, because they live far from the office. We also mostly use FedEx for shipping, and they have promised to be carbon neutral by 2040, which is 10 years earlier than laid out in the Paris climate accord. We also pay for carbon offsetting on shipping that offers it, like UPS. We are always looking to improve efficiency and look at our operations from a sustainability standpoint.
