Is it an extract? (white jelly mushroom)
Would just eating the mushroom yield the same results?

It's one of our 1:1 "extracts." We use hot water to break down the chitin in the cell walls of the mushroom, to make it more bioavailable. However, it's not using the water to dissolve the active and then discard the insoluble things. So you lose nothing from the whole mushroom. It just makes it more bioavailable. In theory you could find raw white jelly mushrooms, dry them, then do a hot water extraction to break them down, then evaporate the water again and consume the powder. However, that process is not as easy as it sounds, and the growing conditions of the mushroom itself matter a lot for the final quality of the powder you get. Also, you would have to use a lot more of the raw mushroom, as the water weight is the majority of the mass in fresh mushrooms. A gram of our powder is not a gram of fresh Tremella fuciformis fruiting body. The water content of fresh mushrooms is 85-95%. So you would have to use a lot more fresh fruiting body to get anywhere close to the same actives as the powder.
