Anyone else hate it when you are two cents short of free shipping but don't wanna buy a whole other product >.<

Thanks for your indepth explanation, honestly I'm surprised it got as many upvotes as it did.
i know most businesses price their products in the same way, ( prices ending in 99) i also know it's not intended to squeeze customers but thats just what happens sometimes your basket total is something like $49 and they offer free shipping for purchases of 50 or more, tell me would you rather just pay the shipping price or would you put what you would of paid for shipping into buying another product (possibly one you've wanted before ) then get the free shipping?. ( any coupon use excluded )
There has been studies on it, i'm just also interested in the psychology of things in a general sense
Though i've been in this exact situation myself sometimes could support help in these situations?, like creating an exact order and adjusting it to free shipping?, in the absence of waiting for a reply for the email you think to yourself ' _aint nobody got time for that_ ' and just go ahead and order the extra
All being said i feel victimised by your prices /s

Ohh yeah, I have the same thing happen when I buy stuff online. I totally feel everyone here. I just also know how things work in the background, and sometimes lines have to be set that work out on average. They might not work out for every order in every situation, but they average out to something sustainable. This is the case for our free shipping. It costs us so much money every month to pay for all this FedEx 2 Day shipping. If everyone only ordered exactly $50, we would not be able to make the numbers work. That's just the line drawn that has proven to work out on average over time. Some orders are just around $50, and others are $400 per order. On average over time that cutoff allows the numbers to work. We also had free shipping over $50 since 2013. Shipping cost us a lot less back then. Shipping costs go up for us every year, but the cutoff stays the same. We take the hit on that to maintain the consistency of free shipping over $50, even though every year it just eats into margins more and more. It cost us a lot more to move from USPS to FedEx as well, but the increase in customer's satisfaction from that move more than justifies the increase in costs. It's all a game of averages.
