Changes to customs declarations affecting order price

Sadly I'm not sure I will be able to make any more orders from ND after changes to the declaration forms. Basically now ND declare full price of each product which makes it a certainty of getting a customs charge and a pretty hefty one at that. To give an example my last order was way above the plus 20% of value that its supposed to be as it was declared at $10 an item ($50) and I still had £18 import charge. I'n not sure how its worked out but whom knows how much a charge would be now on a similar order that would now have a declaration of $150 (£54 maybe?). Its not worth it anymore.

Im so glad you have recognized vat for us norwegians. Do you have this system in place already?
And it’s so annoying they have removed the exemption under 350kr, it’s ridicilous.

We are in the process of implementing it so that we can go live by the April 1st deadline. We surprisingly have a lot of Norwegian customers!
The Supreme Court case South Dakota v. Wayfair was actually the biggest clusterfuck we have had to deal with. Overnight it essentially overturned over 50 years of precedent in this country. Suddenly it was left up to the states to determine if you had "nexus" in their state, and they all went off and made up their own rules. Some of them BACKDATED their laws, which I did not even know was allowed! So overnight we not only had to know US federal and Arizona tax laws, but we had to learn all the state's laws, too. Most of them did not coordinate, either. So some states we have to collect tax on behalf of them and pay them biweekly. Other states are monthly. Other states are quarterly. Others are yearly. We have to keep track of all of them... Then some states expect us to collect city and municipality taxes, too! They even want us to remit payment SEPARATELY for each!!! It's absolute insanity! So since our shitty government doesn't want to get off its ass and implement a federal system for this, the burden falls onto the businesses. Now suddenly we are expected to know every other state's laws and be bound to them. I've never been to South Dakota! Nobody from my team has ever been there. None of our business operations are there, and none of the businesses we work with are there. However, just because we have customers there, we have nexus?!? It's ridiculous!
With other countries like Norway, the line is a bit more clear. They have a border and need to clear things that enter. So they can decide who collects in that scenario. I still think it's nuts, but at least there is a real border there with customs. Not so with the states in the US. It's just this made up rule that they get to make, and we have to abide by them because the Supreme Court decided to overturn half a century of precedent.
