Question about the Mg L-Theronate powder

So I'm a little confused about the how the dosages for this powder work. The big supplement companies that sell l-theronate in capsuled form list the serving size as 2g of Magtein which comes out to 144mg of magnesium, a 36% RDA. When measuring out the powder from ND, do I measure it as if it were "Magtein" which would make the 100% RDA be 5.56g? Or do I measure it as "magnesium from magnesium l-theronate" which would make the 100% RDA be 400mg? Thanks a lot, sorry if that was confusing.

4.7g unfortunately.
You need 400mg of elemental Magnesium / day. Magnesium threonate is a combination of threonic acid and elemental magnesium; elemental magnesium constitutes just 8% of Magthreo's total molecular weight (24/295). To hit 400mg elemental Mg youd need to eat 4720mg. Magtein may have other things in it that could account for the 900mg discrepancy.

You should not need to take your entire RDA from a supplement, though. There should be magnesium already in your diet, and you can supplement it with L-threonate. That, or you can supplement with a cheaper form like glycinate to get most of your RDA, then use L-threonate for the brain benefits. Of course you can certainly take 4.7 grams of threonate a day as well. It's just a bit overboard IMO. I personally do 2 grams of threonate a day, then let my diet give me the rest.
